Something you may notice

Every time you post, the same attacks begin.

Pattern

Online harassment

Online harassment is repeated, targeted and unwanted abuse through messages, posts, comments, rumors or other digital contact.

What happens in the interaction

Using an online space becomes costly enough that muting, leaving or disappearing may seem like the only reliable way to stop the contact.

Effects on the person receiving it

You may monitor notifications, delete posts, change accounts, avoid online spaces or stay alert for another message. Participation can begin to feel like exposure to the next attack.

An important distinction

Disagreement, criticism, reporting and documentation are not automatically harassment. The distinction is repeated targeting, abuse, threats, coordinated pressure or attempts to bypass blocks and limits—not simply hearing an account you dislike.

If you want to keep track

You do not need to decide what it is. You can note the date and what happened, and read it back later.

See The Pattern

One moment rarely tells the whole story. Look at what repeats over time—and what happens when harm, disagreement or a boundary is named.
