Seeing people you love always comes with a price afterward.
Isolation
Isolation is a repeated pattern that makes relationships with friends, family, colleagues or other sources of support increasingly costly, restricted or inaccessible.
The people who could offer support, perspective or practical help become less available. The relationship causing the restriction then carries more of the information by which the situation is understood.
You may cancel plans, hide contact, stop asking for support or allow relationships to fade to avoid criticism, guilt or conflict. Reaching out may feel harder precisely when outside perspective would help.
Choosing distance from unsafe people is protective, and nobody must maintain a relationship that harms them. The distinction is whose safety and choice the distance serves—and whether your outside relationships can remain available without punishment or pressure.
You do not need to decide what it is. You can note the date and what happened, and read it back later.
One moment rarely tells the whole story. Look at what repeats over time—and what happens when harm, disagreement or a boundary is named.
