You have to ask for access to money you earned.
Financial abuse
Financial abuse is a repeated pattern of controlling, taking, withholding or obstructing access to money, work or financial information in ways that reduce another person’s practical choices.
Ordinary decisions, basic needs or leaving the relationship become dependent on resources controlled by someone else. Financial dependence can hold a restriction in place without a direct command.
You may account for every purchase, ask for access to shared money, hide small expenses, give up work or stay in a situation because the practical cost of leaving cannot be met.
Budgeting, unequal income and agreed financial roles are not automatically abuse. The distinction is informed consent, transparency and usable access: whether arrangements can be questioned and changed, or whether money is used to remove another person’s choices and ability to act.
You do not need to decide what it is. You can note the date and what happened, and read it back later.
One moment rarely tells the whole story. Look at what repeats over time—and what happens when harm, disagreement or a boundary is named.
