“I miss you.” Then nothing again.
Breadcrumbing
Breadcrumbing is a repeated pattern of offering small, intermittent signs of interest or contact without enough consistency or clarity for the relationship to become mutual or dependable.
Contact remains possible, but commitment and clarity remain out of reach. Each new message or gesture can reopen the question without resolving what the relationship actually offers.
You may spend increasing time interpreting delays, likes, brief messages or changes in tone. Each sign of interest may provide temporary reassurance, while the uncertainty repeatedly returns.
Irregular contact is not automatically breadcrumbing. People can be busy, overwhelmed, uncertain or honestly limited in what they can offer. The distinction is whether those limits can be named clearly—or whether intermittent attention repeatedly sustains expectation while direct questions remain unanswered.
You do not need to decide what it is. You can note the date and what happened, and read it back later.
One moment rarely tells the whole story. Look at what repeats over time—and what happens when harm, disagreement or a boundary is named.
